Temporary Youth Services Reference Clerk

Summer is an exciting time at Lake Villa District Library! We’re seeking two part-time Temporary Youth Services Reference Clerks to join us for summer 2025. 

These customer service-focused roles will primarily support the library’s summer reading program, assisting patrons with registration and check-ins. In addition, these positions will involve providing reference and reader’s advisory, as well as support for department operations.

We’re looking for candidates who are kind, collaborative and excited to provide the best service possible to library patrons and fellow staff in a busy environment. Excellent communication and team skills are a must, as are proficiency with technology and overall adaptability. An interest in youth and/or young adult literature is strongly preferred. A healthy sense of humor is a necessity!

These positions report to the Head of Youth Services. They involve collaboration with Youth Services staff and potentially staff in other departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Experience working with children and/or young adults preferred.
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency with technology.
• Ability to work a schedule including weekend hours.
• Access to transportation.
