Position Function

The field supervisor will provide field supervision to one social work MSW student completing a generalist practicum placement at Muncie Public Libraries as the student provides referrals and short-term case management to patrons as well as support and training to library staff.

Type: Contractual, Exempt

  • Duration: May 1, 2025 - July 18, 2025
  • Hours: Up to 4 hours per week (after initial 16-hour preparation)
  • Hourly rate: $50 per hour
  • No benefits includedMinimum Education

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from an accredited institution

Minimum Experience

  • Two years of field experience in:
    1. Case management
    2. Crisis intervention and/or
    3. Working with people experiencing homelessness
  • At least one year of prior field supervision experienceMinimum Other
  • In-depth knowledge public benefit navigation
  • Strong understanding of NASW Code of Ethics
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary settingAuthorization to work in the US Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Education

Master of Social Work (MSW)

Preferred Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of Muncie community resources
  • Five years of social work field experience
  • Two years of field supervision experience
  • Program development experience
  • Valid social work license (LBSW, LSW, or LCSW) in IndianaPosition Title(s) Supervised

Practicum/intern students being placed at Muncie Public Libraries.

  • Ranking: 1 Conduct one hour a week of formal supervision (can be in-person or virtual)
  • Ranking: 2 Train student to navigate benefit applications, navigate community resources, and obtaining identity documents on behalf of patrons
  • Ranking: 3 Provide up to 3 hours a week of student support by phone, text, virtual, and/or on-site
  • Ranking: 4 Collaborate with library task supervisor and BSU faculty
  • Ranking: 5 Perform other related duties as assigned.
