Teen Services Librarian

The Topsham Public Library seeks applications for a part-time 20 hour per week Teen Services Librarian.

The Teen Services Librarian will provide library service through programming and materials for teens and those who work with teens. A thorough working knowledge of modern teen library policies, practices, technologies, and trends is required.

The successful candidate will hold a Masters in Library Science (MLS or MLIS) from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited degree program, or be currently enrolled in an MLS program, and have at least three years of experience working with teens, preferably in a library setting. Knowledge of the recreational and educational needs of teens as well as good judgment, tact, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, are a must.

This position will be responsible for facilitating programs and curating a collection for teens as well as maintaining relationships with parents and other family members, teachers, and town employees. Experience working with the public, collection development, programming for teens, and budget tracking are strongly preferred.

The position also requires working at a public service desk periodically to answer patron questions, checkout and request materials, perform routine clerical tasks, and assist with basic computer and printing needs.

The library is open Mon, Wed, Fri: 9am-6pm, Tues & Thurs: 9am-8pm, and Sat: 9am-4pm year-round.

The hourly wage for this position is $28.26. Applications will be accepted now through October 11th.
