Job DescriptionThe University Libraries at Old Dominion University invite applicants for a Systems Librarian. The Systems Librarian will administer, configure, troubleshoot, and coordinate the integrated library system (Alma), discovery interface (Primo), and related applications, and they will ensure reliable and efficient access to the Libraries' collections and resources.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities

  1. Basic working knowledge of metadata, linked data, and interoperability standards.
  2. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  3. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a demanding and rapidly changing service-oriented environment.
  4. Basic expertise in project management and coordinating teams to implement, enhance, and support library systems.
  5. Basic expertise in promoting and providing training on library systems.
  6. Considerable knowledge of library discovery services that support the operations and strategic initiatives of academic libraries.
  7. Basic knowledge of library application development processes, including requirements gathering, quality assurance, usability testing, user experience, and release management.
  8. Ability to build relationships and work collegially in a diverse, proactive, and team-oriented environment.
  9. Considerable knowledge of the approaches and techniques used by students and faculty to search for, select, and access library resources to support their learning, teaching, and research.
  10. Considerable experience working with Alma library services platform and Primo discovery interface.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or trainingAmerican Library Association accredited Master's Degree in Library & Information Science

Preferred QualificationsPreference will be given to candidates with some prior experience with scripting languages and using Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
