  • SUNY Empire is currently seeking a Student and Faculty Support Services Librarian. As part of an experienced and user-centered library team, the Student and Faculty Support Services Librarian will provide consultative research help, instructional support, and outreach services to students and faculty assisting them with conducting research, completing research assignments, and navigating the online library. The Student and Faculty Support Services librarian will provide research support services via live chat, phone, email, tickets, and web-based consultations. This position will work in the early evenings during the main academic semesters and will work late afternoons in the summer semester. Based on background and availability, this position may provide presentations to students and faculty on how to use the library and conduct research on mutually agreed upon topics. The librarian will provide support for resource sharing, and process requests from Empire constituents and other libraries. In addition to direct faculty and student support services, this librarian will contribute to other areas of the library to enhance access to resources and develop and assess online instructional content.

**Specific Duties May Include:**Monitor Empire State University reference request systems and assist Empire students, faculty, and staff who are requesting help with research assignments, citations, finding information, or navigating library services or systems.

  • Develop online instructional content such as FAQs, guides, videos, or other learning objects.
  • Monitor resource sharing systems and process requests from Empire users and other libraries.
  • Provide assistance on projects, such as link checking, metadata creation for items in the institutional repository or archives, reviewing and documenting workflows for online systems, or other agreed upon activities.
  • Provide instruction and assistance related to research and library services to individuals and small groups when needed.
  • Deliver research services to global users via participation in the Ask Us 24/7 chat service.Job Requirements: Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited US university or comparable non-US university.
  • Experience providing research support to students and faculty using a variety of delivery methods.
  • Experience with library resources such as discovery systems, subject databases and other research tools.Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree, preferably in Library Science.
  • Experience working in library systems from the staff perspective, either in systems, technical services, resource sharing, reference, or another service area.
  • Experience teaching or presenting library or research concepts.
  • Knowledge of best practices in online reference.
  • Experience providing in-depth research support services in more than one academic discipline.Special Information:

VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.Additional Information: Rank/Salary: Instructional Support Technician, SL3 | $30,000 (part-time (.5 FTE) rate).
