Essential Functions

  • Provide leadership in system administration, configuration, and maintenance of critical library services, including EZproxy, SirsiDynix Symphony, digital content platforms, and discovery tools.
  • Collaborate with department managers, librarians, and staff to define and analyze library business and operational challenges, identify process improvement opportunities, and recommend technology solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain the Integrated Library System (ILS) and related services, ensuring seamless performance and integration with other library applications and enterprise IT infrastructures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, working both on-site and remotely, to ensure uninterrupted library operations and user access to resources.
  • Analyze library applications and operational workflows to identify system requirements, recommend enhancements, and ensure solutions align with departmental goals and community needs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain library technology applications, including performing system upgrades, testing, and enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, user guides, and training materials; ensure staff is trained on system use and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Assess community needs, social trends, and user behavior to support the development of library collections and services; generate data-driven reports to inform decision-making and improve resource accessibility.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices related to library technology and information discovery; recommend improvements to tools and workflows to enhance user experience.
  • Manage library collections in collaboration with librarians, selecting and maintaining materials that align with community needs and organizational priorities.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with library technology vendors to coordinate system support, software enhancements, and integration efforts.
  • Provide technical expertise and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support committees, projects, and initiatives aimed at improving library services and technology.


SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process will consist of an evaluation of training and experience and the most highly qualified candidates may be invited to participate in a structured panel interview and department interview.

Candidates selected for this position are subject to a one-year probationary work period.

Requirements

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Senior IT Analyst will be a technical expert in library technologies, including Integrated Library Systems (ILS), APIs, digital content platforms, and related systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for providing excellent customer service.

This position requires resourcefulness, initiative, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, including library staff, vendors, and IT colleagues.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in management Information systems, computer science, library science, or a closely related field and at least four years of progressively responsible information systems experience involving applications, systems or network development, telecommunications, administration and/or support; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in a public agency is preferred.

Special Requirements

Due to the nature of your work that you will be called on to perform, a Police Background Investigation may be required and would be completed within the first year of employment including a review of employment history, criminal conviction record, use of intoxicants and/or other controlled substances. In these cases, incumbents may be asked to work at secure locations and access highly confidential materials and information, in addition to working on systems that have city-wide impacts.
