The University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) Libraries invites applications from collaborative and innovative candidates for the position of Science & Engineering Librarian! This tenure-track faculty position serves as one of three subject specialists for students and faculty in the College of Engineering & Applied Sciences, as well as other liaison areas as assigned. Duties include participating in all six pillars of liaison responsibilities in support of the College of Engineering & Applied Sciences and related programs and departments: collection development, instruction, relationship building, research support, subject expertise, and advocacy. The Science & Engineering Librarian leverages their librarianship expertise to advance the College's goals of being a world leader for excellence and innovation in engineering research and education. An essential element of the position is supporting student success and contributing to an engaged Libraries environment. The Science & Engineering librarian participates in the libraries' collaborative team environment and performs other duties as assigned. As a member of the University Libraries faculty, the Engineering Librarian will be expected to maintain a record of scholarly research/creative work, participate in professional service activities, and actively engage in faculty governance, in keeping with the tenure standards of the University of Colorado Boulder. This position has the opportunity to work in a hybrid capacity. This tenure-track faculty position reports to the Head of the Relationship Building & Engagement section. A typical annual merit formula for tenure-track faculty is 40% librarianship, 40% research, and 20% service. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Librarianship responsibilities are drawn from the Six Pillars of the Liaison Role and encompass the specific examples provided here. Emphasis in each area will vary between liaisons and should be reflected in annual goals.Collection Development: leverages subject expertise, relationships, and interactions to collaborate in building collections that are responsive to student, faculty, and researcher needs.

• Instruction: builds multimodal information literacy teaching and learning into the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences curriculum and related programs, with a particular focus on fostering undergraduate success. Build and maintain learning materials, including robust subject and course guides.
• Relationship Building: builds bridges between the Libraries and the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences while partnering with internal collaborators to connect people to the full range of the libraries' resources and services. Develops outreach and services designed to address the needs of the undergraduate populations in engineering and related fields.
• Research Support: advises and guides researchers in engineering and related areas to enable learning and connect users to library resources and services.
• Subject Expertise: Understands subject and disciplinary needs of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and how those relate to the curricular, programmatic, research, and teaching needs of the faculty and students within their assigned subject areas.
• Advocacy: leverages subject expertise and area relationships to build support for library priorities in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and promote participation in Libraries initiatives.
• Collaboration: participates in Libraries task forces, pods, guilds, and teams as appropriate; participates actively in the chapter's public service mission by providing coverage at Libraries' service points.
• Gemmill Library: Serve as an integral member of the Leonard H. Gemmill Engineering, Mathematics & Physics Library, contributing to operations, outreach, and community engagement.
• Maintain a sustained record of substantive scholarship and creative work, and demonstrate a continued commitment to leadership and service.What You Should Know
• This position is offered in a hybrid capacity. There will be an information session on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 11:00-11:45 am. At this information session, the search committee will share information about the Science & Engineering Librarian job search, working at CU Boulder, the tenure track, and answer attendee questions. All final candidates for tenured faculty appointments are required to complete an Authorization to Release Information.What We Can Offer
• The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time (12-month) tenure track faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank. The salary range for Assistant Professor is $70,000-$76,000. A candidate that meets the University and Libraries criteria for hire with tenure may be eligible for the rank of Associate Professor with a starting salary range of $80,000-$86,000. A candidate with a career of excellence and significant growth, development, and accomplishment post-tenure may be eligible for the rank of Full Professor with a starting salary range of $95,000-$105,000.
