Research and Instruction Librarian
The Pennsylvania State University Libraries seeks applications for a tenure line Research and Instruction Librarian position at Penn State Abington. Reporting to the Head Librarian for Penn State Abington, this individual will provide public services that emphasize student success and support an inclusive and welcoming environment. The successful candidate will be joining a team of faculty and staff within the University Libraries that are committed to pursuing our strategic priorities, and advancing our library values of equity of access, diversity and inclusion, ethics and integrity, sustainability, empathy, and organizational excellence.

Penn State Abington is located on a beautiful, historic, suburban campus in Abington Township, just five miles from the Philadelphia city line. Abington is the fifth largest campus in the world-renowned Penn State University system of 24 campuses, with an enrollment of approximately 2,900 students. Its diverse student body comes from every socioeconomic background, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, and cultural identity. For the 2023/2024 academic year, 47% of incoming students at Penn State Abington were the first generation in their family to attend a higher education institution, and 56% are from a population that has historically been underrepresented in colleges and universities. The campus is deeply committed to being a community of scholars who value student success. Penn State Abington offers all four years of 25 baccalaureate degrees and a Master of Business Administration. In addition, students can enroll in most of the University's more than 275 undergraduate degrees for their first two years before seamlessly transitioning to another Penn State campus to complete their degree. Penn State Abington's primary market area is the surrounding counties of Montgomery, Bucks, and Philadelphia, which accounts for 60% of its student enrollment. Candidates must also provide three professional references, indicating their professional relationship to each reference. Furnished references must include a current/previous direct supervisor, a colleague, and one at the candidate's discretion. References will be contacted later in the search process.
Initial review of applications will begin on January 20th, 2025.The search committee will then conduct first-round interviews over the phone, second round interviews over Zoom, and final interviews on campus at Penn State Abington. All eligible travel costs will be covered by Penn State.
