Part Time Library Assistant, Robbins Library (Arlington)

Our team of committed library assistants in the circulation department are the first staff library visitors encounter when they enter the library, and the last staff members they see when they leave the building.  The good cheer and helpful attitude visitors encounter at the circulation desk sets the tone for every library visit.  The Part-Time Library Assistant is a public facing role and spends at least three hours each day providing direct public service at our busy library.  

Duties: The Part-Time Library Assistant attends the circulation desk at both Robbins Library and Fox Branch Library;  uses the automated circulation system to check out, renew, and check in library materials; registers new patrons;  processes and sorts returned materials; responds to requests for information pertaining to basic library procedures; schedules museum pass reservations;  answers the phone; maintains patrons registration files;  prepares holds for patrons pick up; performs searches for missing and overdue items; processes periodicals and newspapers; maintains the new book collection, and other duties as assigned.

Schedule: This 14 hour a week part time position is scheduled for Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Thursdays form 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. 

Qualifications

High school diploma; one year of office or library experiences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Familiarity with Minuteman Library Network and Sierra ILS a plus.
