Description

The Libraries of the U.S. Courts for the Third Circuit include a headquarters library (Philadelphia) and eight branch libraries located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This position is located within the Newark, NJ Branch Library. This person administers the branch library and provides a variety of services. Representative duties include providing high quality research, reference, education and training services for court legal researchers; participating in collection development; working on local, circuit-wide, and national library committees; preparing and leading orientations of library services for court staff; attending New Jersey court functions for Third Circuit newsletter; and other duties as assigned. 



Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited school;
  • At least one year of law library experience;
  • Proficiency using Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, and other library research sources;
  • Excellent research, analytical, written, and oral communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Skill and experience with Microsoft Office products including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and presentation software; 
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of professionalism, discretion, and tact at all times;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to handle occasional moderate to heavy physical activity;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Interest in civics and court history; and
  • Ability to travel and telework when necessary or assigned.
