The Manager of Research Services - Library, in consultation with the Deputy University Librarian, will envision and deliver superlative services for the support of research, teaching, and learning on campus. The Manager will lead a collaborative team of four to five Research and Instruction Librarians. The Manager also provides leadership for the library's research help services and serves as a liaison to the Division of Science. As a member of the extended Leadership Group, the Manager participates in strategic planning, library management, and priority setting.

This position manages members of the Library's collective bargaining unit, represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 888, for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment standardized across the University.

The Hiring Range for this position is $86,800 - $94,900.

  • Supervises a team of librarians which builds relationships with faculty, students, and staff to support teaching, learning, and research on campus. Encourage and provide support for the professional development of team members. 25%
  • Provides leadership for Research Help service, including staff training and evaluation of services and co-administration of Springshare tools used in research services. 35%
  • Serves as a role model and participates in the research, teaching, and learning activities of the department and, depending on subject expertise, will liaise with University departments. 20%
  • Participates in and contributes to committees and work groups of the Library and the University. 10%
  • Furthers knowledge in librarianship and in liaison areas through: 10%
    • participation in professional library or subject-related organizations and committees.

  • Education: MLS required from an ALA accredited program of study, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Work Experience: 5-8 years total related work experience
  • Experience with or demonstrated commitment to developing inclusive and equitable learning experiences
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Strong customer service background and ability to articulate a user-focused vision of service
  • Experience with outreach initiatives
  • Ability to thoughtfully work with patrons and colleagues to resolve issues, including sensitive situations
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively across different departments and functional units
  • Understanding of academic library environments, operations, and objectives
  • Experience in an academic setting that demonstrates engagement with departmental constituencies and innovative collaboration on teaching and research activities.
  • Understanding of research and teaching needs of faculty and students.
  • Facility with technologies associated with teaching and learning.The Manager of Research Services - Library is primarily an on-site position.
