About this role

Responsible for performing complex library duties requiring independent judgement based on a thorough knowledge of library policies and procedures. Responsible for library acquisitions, purchasing, receiving, and vendor payments. Initiates and processes orders for accounting system and maintains vendor relations. Works closely with LLRC Director in organizing and tracking disposition of library funds. Oversees library displays and events.

What a day of a Library Technician II looks like: Provides professional assistance to students, faculty, and others in using the library. Conducts library orientations and tours.

  • Maintains online documents and coordinates resources sharing among various College users including students, faculty, and others. Performs copy cataloging functions.

  • Purchases and assists in the purchase of books, electronic resources, periodicals, equipment, and supplies for library.

  • Assists in the preparation of electronic purchase orders and may transfer budget items, as needed. Prepares cost estimates for budget development and process budget changes.

  • Guides, leads, reviews, verifies, observes, and manages the work of people reporting directly and indirectly to you.

  • Designs, edits, and produces complex spreadsheets, brochures, catalogs, newsletters, reports, flyers, posters, or specialized publications.

  • Interacts with students both within and outside the instructional, student and academic setting in a professional and ethical manner. Assists instructors with specific needs as requested.

  • Maintains current knowledge of field and profession. Travels to training workshops, conferences, meetings and professional association events outside of college locations as needed.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree or two years of college coursework

  • Four years of related experience

Knowledge of:

  • Library software and classification systems

  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications

Skilled in:

  • Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management

Ability to:

  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

  • Regular physical attendance required

Work Environment and Physical Demand:

  • Reach and grasp objects

  • Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Stand for extended periods of time

  • Use of video display terminal

  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills

  • Communicate information orally and in writing

  • Proofread and check documents for accuracy

  • Work a fluctuating work schedule

he minimum base pay for this position starts at $19.00/ hr; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate's education and experience.
