Job Description: About This Role:

This is an 18-month contracted Part-Time position, the Library Specialist will assist the Cataloging and Metadata Librarian with the collection realignment project, focusing on the management and disposal of tangible materials in compliance with state and federal guidelines.

What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities:

  • Digital Substitution of Materials - Identify digital substitutes for tangible materials in various formats to support collection realignment.
  • Disposal List Creation and Monitoring - Create, distribute, and monitor disposal lists in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Inventory and Shipping Management - Distribute requested items to libraries via mail, track shipping costs, and manage supplies related to the distribution process.
  • Monitoring Requests - Monitor item requests and needs lists from other libraries, ensuring timely responses and efficient management of requests.
  • Disposal of Unclaimed Items - Ensure proper disposal of unclaimed items from disposal lists in accordance with relevant guidelines.Key Competencies:
  • Ability to identify and manage digital substitutes for tangible materials.
  • Familiarity with inventory and document disposal processes.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail when tracking shipping costs and handling records.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and assignments.Physical Requirements:

Able to lift 25 pounds and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and walking between buildings.
