The Library Manager provides the leadership and management necessary to ensure their Library building has appropriate services, staff, standards, and operations to function effectively with financial and operational efficiency. The Library Manager performs all functions in the context of the larger library system, sharing the responsibility for developing library goals and strategies with other team members. The Library Manager oversees the public-facing services at their building, but also ensures through collaborative relationships that the three Library locations work together cohesively toward shared goals and strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees operational activities, services, and staff performance in their building. Ensures excellent public service and customer service.
Provides day-to-day leadership, management, and motivation to their Library building and public services, embracing the mission and culture of the library.
Motivates leads and evaluates high-performing teams.
Directs the development of Library operational plans and staff responsibilities to meet planned objectives.
Analyzes statistics and performance measures for management review.
Leads the Person-In-Charge program at their building and ensures proper training.
Actively seeks customer feedback and works with customers on suggestions and concerns.
Investigate and resolves difficult and sensitive issues with staff and customers.
Collaborates regularly with the Executive Director and Executive Team. Works in partnership with peers (Library Managers at the other two locations) as a cohesive unit to ensure consistent service models.
Collaborates with the Facilities Manager in building analysis, space development, safety procedures, and other projects to maintain and optimize the visual appeal of the library.
Collaborates with the Leadership Team to assess organizational needs, provide professional development, and support organizational improvement strategies.
Assesses workplace culture with the Leadership Team and offers suggestions to foster an inclusive, fun, collaborative, creative, team and community centered environment within the library.
Functions as the lead in charge of all building issues while on duty as Person-In-Charge.
Develops relationships with similar organizations in the library field and community.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Communicates information regularly and effectively; managerial courage to communicate concerns and problems that need to be addressed.
Demonstrates strong initiative to pursue projects and assignments that improve library operations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Master of Library and Information Science degree (ALA accredited college/university). Minimum three years of experience in library management/supervision is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Communicate with staff and customers in person and over the phone.
May require either being in a stationary position or moving about for prolonged periods.
Moves equipment or library materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
Must have reliable means of transportation to attend meetings, conferences, and perform work in other locations.
