Library Director

The West Dennis Free Public Library seeks an innovative and energetic individual to fulfill the position of Library Director. The Director manages the day-to-day operations of the library, including the following responsibilities:

• Hires, trains, supervises, and schedules staff and volunteers.
• Provides reference services, technology support, and circulation assistance.
• Schedules and publicizes authors, speakers, and other special programs. 
• Conducts collection development, including purchasing, weeding, and managing materials.
• Prepares monthly reports for the Board of Trustees and annual reports for the State.
• Develops library policies and procedures in conjunction with the Board of Trustees and implements those policies within the library.
• Oversees payroll and submits hours to our payroll company. 
• Creates publicity and promotional materials for library programs and services, including a monthly eNewsletter, flyers, social media posts, and email reminders.
• Tallies incoming funds for deposit.
• Attends meetings of CLAMS members, Dennis librarians, and the Board of Trustees.
• Maintains the website in conjunction with Library Assistant. 
• Orders office and bathroom supplies.
• Manages Library Membership program.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Board of Trustees or necessitated by the Library. 

This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week. 

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school or equivalent experience is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of professional principles, methods, and practices, as well as outstanding communication and organizational skills, strong technology competence, and an ability to prioritize between conflicting demands. Experience with the KOHA and Aspen platforms are preferred.
