Library Director

Description

Under broad policy guidance and direction from the Library Board, the Library Director:

• Provides leadership and vision to fulfill the mission of the Library District.
• Implements policies and directives of the Board of Trustees and supports the Board’s governance and fiduciary responsibilities.
• Is responsible for all operations of the District including Human Resources, Finance, Technology, Communication, Collection Development, and Public Services.
• Performs professional and administrative duties in planning, developing, implementing, and directing public library services.

Requirements

Qualified candidates must have a Master’s in Library Science, or equivalent, from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited institution.

Highly qualified candidates will have:

• At least three years of supervisory and management experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Managerial or administrative experience working in a library district including the development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets.
