This position reports to the Director of Library Services and Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence and is accountable for providing support to the library with a focus on the Research & Instruction Department, as well as providing support to the Center for Teaching Excellence. This role serves students, faculty, and staff through front desk interactions in both the library and CTE, as well as providing organization and administrative support. In addition, this role may be responsible for securing the library at closing and general monitoring of the library facility.

This is a 12-month position working 35 hours per week. Work hours are Monday through Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 11am-7pm during the academic semester. Winter break and summer break schedules may change according to organizational needs. This position splits its time between the Center for Teaching Excellence (40%) and the Krupp Library (60%).

Principal Accountabilities

  • Providing basic research services in the absence of librarians through face to face and digital services; accurately and quickly providing appropriate information to patrons.
  • Providing accurate and timely administrative support to the librarians and CTE staff, including statistics keeping, policy documentation and updates, workshop preparation including budgets, etc.
  • Maintaining library and CTE collections, including shifting books and keeping stacks in order.
  • Providing basic troubleshooting of equipment such as copiers, microfilm readers, printers, scanners; assisting library users with MS Office suite and other software packages.
  • Collaborative supervision and training of Research & Instruction student employees.
  • Working on library and CTE marketing via digital signage, social media, and more.
  • Assisting other library departments as needed.
  • Attending department and staff meetings.
  • Effectively working with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and community members.
  • Performing other related responsibilities as assigned.

  • Detail-oriented, excellent organizational and communication skills, and comfort learning and using emerging technologies.
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality, dealing with confidential documents.
  • Experience working with library materials, including print and electronic resources.
  • Previous experience supervising student assistants or staff.
  • A bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.This position is best filled by an individual with the following qualities and characteristics:
