  1. JOB PURPOSE:

Oversees Library services and spaces, primarily during evening and weekend hours, during Fall and Spring academic semesters. Assists users with research needs and serves as evening and weekend supervisor of the Library building, service points, and student-workers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (shared):Serves as Library supervisor on duty during scheduled shifts, primarily evenings and weekends, during Fall and Spring academic semesters. Monitors building security and works to ensure safe, comfortable, and equitable conditions for all users. 2. Closes the Library building on all days scheduled to work until closing time. 3. Staffs the circulation desk and circulates material to users in accordance with Library policy. Uses excellent oral and written communication skills to assist users with directional and information questions in person, and by phone, email, and chat. 4. Assists in supervising and training Library student workers. Ensures student-workers provide excellent customer service and perform all required duties. 5. Ensures efficient and exemplary customer service to Library users in all aspects of Access Services, including resolving complex transactions, explaining policies, making decisions regarding exceptional circumstances, and reporting issues to the Access Services Librarian and/or other Library staff. 6. Negotiates, resolves, and/or reports library user complaints concerning facilities, equipment, or service. Analyzes and troubleshoots problems with Library equipment. 7. Provides reference service as scheduled, and directs users to contact librarians for further assistance as appropriate. 8. Assists with special projects as assigned to aid the smooth operation of the Library and maintenance of collections. 9. In cooperation with Access Services and Library staff, creates, maintains, and publicizes Circulation, Reserves, and Interlibrary Loan policies. 10. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications

ORAL OR WRITTEN REQUIREMENTS:

Excellence in English language, oral and written, and skills for effective communication with staff, faculty, students, and other library patrons.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Much sitting, standing and walking, some bending and climbing stairs.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

The ability to organize work and function independently, as well as balance multiple tasks simultaneously. Possession of a strong customer service orientation.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree preferred.
