RESPONSIBILITIES

Reference:

  • Provide one-on-one and group consultations to students and faculty on research strategies, including topic selection, source evaluation, and citation formatting.
  • Develop and deliver workshops and instructional sessions on research skills and citation management tools (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago) both in and out of classroom.
  • Assist students, staff, and faculty in research skills to formulate effective search strategies

Circulation and Technical Processing:

  • Manages Interlibrary Loan (ILL) including establishing protocols, initializing and fulfilling requests, maintaining ILL database, and problems.
  • Check-in and out materials, renewals, and basic cataloging functions.

Information Literacy Instruction:

  • Design and implement information literacy programs that empower students to locate, evaluate, and ethically use information.
  • Create online tutorials, guides, and resources to support students' research needs and OER utilization.

Collection Development:

  • Participate in the selection and acquisition of library materials, with an emphasis on Open Educational Resources (OER) and digital resources that support diverse learning needs.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends in library science, OER, and educational technology to continually enhance library offerings.
  • Collaborate with faculty to identify, curate, and integrate OER materials into course curricula, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes.
  • Promote awareness of OER benefits among faculty and students through presentations, training sessions, and informational materials.

Collaboration and Outreach:

  • Work closely with faculty, instructional designers, and academic support units to support cross-disciplinary initiatives and enhance student learning.
  • Engage in outreach efforts to promote library services, workshops, and OER initiatives to students and faculty.

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Collect and analyze data on library usage, research consultations, and OER effectiveness to inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on the impact of library services on student success and engagement.

Additional Duties:

  • Develop and participate in professional development activities and stay current with developments in library science and educational technology.
  • Assist with general library operations, including circulation, reference services, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure that the library operates with an understanding of broad national perspectives and trends in library science and information literacy and engages in assessment informed by this content.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary: $50,720.01 in accordance with level 2, step I of the salary schedule within the agreement between the MCCS Trustees and the MEA Administrators Unit, with a comprehensive benefits package available
