ICF International seeks a Librarian to work with the Early Education Services team to support the Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE) in the maintenance, modernization, and expansion of the Child Care and Early Education Research Connections Website. The Librarian will work closely with the Project Manager and the team to implement library policies and procedures that align with client priorities, library best practices, and help make the collection user friendly. The Librarian will assist with maintenance and updating of the online database including selection, prioritization, and indexing of print and electronic research and policy literature in the child care and early education field for collection development and acquisition.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and collaboration skills and an ability to work with the project team to ensure high quality services to our client and users that align with library best practices. Ideally, the candidate will have an understanding of the early care and education field and be able to evaluate and acquire appropriate resources to support collection development.

The position is full-time and remote within the U.S and may involve limited travel to OPRE sponsored events.

Key Responsibilities:

Communication, collaboration, and client focus
  • Support OPRE designated priorities for Research Connections, including development of outreach materials (e.g., resource lists, presentations, etc.).
  • Build professional relationships with the Research Connections team to facilitate ongoing communication, collaboration, and shared problem solving to meet the needs of the library users and OPRE.
  • Actively participate in Research Connections team meetings and librarian team meetings.

Expertise and Scope
  • Support the maintenance and expansion of the Research Connection library collection and services.
  • Scan and evaluate print and electronic sources for acquisition to further develop the collection.
  • Catalogue journal articles, gray literature, child care and early education instruments,
  • Provide reference assistance and assist with the compilation of special requests including searches and bibliographies and provide support for searches and bibliographies.
  • Develop abstracts for gray literature and instruments as needed.
  • Maintain electronic files and folders in an organized and consistent manner.
  • Classify publications using a field-specific topical classification system.

Leadership
  • Develop an understanding of the contract, its deliverables, client needs, and ICF requirements.
  • Work with limited instructions on day-to-day work.


Basic Qualifications
  • An ALA-accredited Master of Library Science (MLS), Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), or Master of Science in Library and Information Science (MSLIS) degree
  • 2+ years working in a library; preferably in reference or cataloging
  • 1+ years Knowledge of MARC tags and LC headings and other strong bibliographic skills.
  • 1+ year experience using on-line catalogs
  • 1+ year experience writing abstracts and annotated bibliographies.
  • 1+ year experience conducting research and utilizing research databases
  • 1+ year experience with library software


Professional Skills
  • Coursework in the social sciences and/or experience working with collections of advanced academic and/or professional research in the social sciences is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of the role of evidence in policy and policy literature is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat
  • The ability to be flexible and handle changing priorities and duties
  • Exhibits excellent organizational skills, time management, and prioritization abilities
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task in order to meet critical deadlines
  • Exhibits strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Exhibits sound professionalism and business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
  • Exercises professional judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Stay abreast of the latest library science research, tools, resources, and best practices that support library operations.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$69,862.00 - $118,765.00
