Job Summary

Position level (Librarian I, II, III) will be hired based on best candidate's relevant education and experience.

The Librarian provides research, curriculum and clinical information support to the Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy, the School of Nursing, and the School of Health Professions. Duties include serving as liaison, providing information and education services to students and faculty, performing mediated and systematic review searching, administering Covidence, assisting with marketing and outreach efforts, performing committee work within and outside the library, providing on-call coverage of the information desk, and participating in collection development and assessment with an emphasis on health science resources, and other duties as assigned.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

  • Proactively communicate with on-campus and distance constituencies about library services and resources.
  • Provide research and reference services to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Provide meditated search support to faculty and systematic review support to faculty and students.
  • Administer Covidence systematic review platform.
  • Provide on-call general reference support.
  • Develop tutorials and instructional programs addressing evidence-based practice, library resources, information literacy and critical thinking skills for students; promote same to faculty.
  • Solicit feedback from faculty regarding research needs and assessment of potential new resources.
  • Participate in library marketing and outreach efforts.
  • Evaluate resources for purchase, weeding, or retention.
  • Create LibGuides and develop familiarity with other Springshare products as needed.
  • Participate collegially in library and university meetings and committees.
  • Participate in relevant professional organizations, attend meetings and present at conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience

Master's degree in Library Science.

Preferred: Undergraduate study in life or clinical sciences, membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP).

Librarian I - entry level, no experience.

Librarian II - three (2) years of direct relevant experience.

Librarian III - six (6) or more years of direct relevant experience.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
