Timberland Regional Library is seeking a candidate to fill the role of IT Coordinator. This position will be based out of the Service Center located in Tumwater, Washington, has telework options available, and requires frequent travel throughout the five-county district we serve. The position is largely focused on developing and providing onboarding and continuing education for all Timberland Library staff related to library technology as well as providing support to the IT Administrator on related database management tasks. Our ideal candidate is an excellent communicator and project manager with subject matter expertise in SirsiDynix Workflows. They demonstrate excellent communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.

The IT Coordinator develops, coordinates, and provides training for library staff related to the software and tools needed to perform their jobs. The IT Coordinator participates in district-wide projects, work groups and initiatives in assigned areas. The work of this position is performed under limited supervision and requires excellent communication and critical thinking skills. This position reports to an IT Administrator.

  • Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE).
  • Type: This position is FLSA Exempt,
  • Bargaining Unit: Not represented.
  • Starting Pay: The pay range for this position is $6,204.69 - $8,588.66 per month. Employees new to Timberland Regional Library typically start at step 1, 2 or 3 of the pay range, depending upon qualification.
     

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates district-wide projects and initiatives requiring frequent communication and solicitation of information from Department Directors, Managers, Administrators, and other staff.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements training events and develops and maintains support materials for staff.
  • Provides administrative support for the IT Administrators including scheduling, coordinating meetings, distributing and receiving information to and from groups and individuals, and answering and responding to phone calls.
  • Develops, prepares, and presents work-plans, surveys, timelines, metrics, reports, and program proposals.
  • May serve as an administrator for software used by IT.
  • Collaborates with multiple departments and individuals to assist with and complete district-wide projects. Participates on local and district-wide committees and performs other duties as assigned or required.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

  • This is a hybrid position with office space at headquarters as well as the option to telework.
  • Work is performed in a busy, service-oriented office with frequent interruptions under the stress of continual pressure to meet deadlines and handle competing priorities.
  • Travel is required to attend meetings at other sites and locations, or to participate in work-related assignments.

Requirements

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree and five years’ experience in specialty area of expertise such as project management, library services; OR any combination of education and experience which would provide the required knowledge and skills and allows for successful performance of the job.

Licenses, Certifications, and Special Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record, OR must be able to provide own transportation to and from the job, meetings and related job sites.
  • Must pass and maintain a criminal background check.
  • The ability to work evenings and weekends and to adapt to schedule changes on short notice.

Technology Requirements:

  • Strong computer skills, including database management, word processing, creating spreadsheets, document management and organization, email applications and the internet.
  • Knowledge of computerized information systems used to satisfactorily complete job responsibilities.
