General Humanities Reference Librarian

Reporting to the Assistant Director, General Humanities Reference and the Gregorian Center for Research in the Humanities, the **Librarian III **plays a key role in providing excellent public service via reference work, writing, instruction, and outreach. The Librarian III will also be a key partner in leading and collaborating with colleagues across the Library on public service initiatives and collection projects. The optimal candidate will be collaborative, service oriented, have strong organizational skills, and be committed to equitable access for all researchers.  

Responsibilities Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Librarian III will: 

• Provide research and reference assistance to Library patrons at general collection service points
• Employ project management techniques in the planning, execution, and communication around long-term initiatives and projects as assigned
• Assist in the creation, maintenance, and communication of internal documentation, workflows, and training materials 
• Serve as the departmental liaison for select committees, task forces, and working groups concerned with public services and general collections projects 
• Participate in programming, instruction, and outreach activities
• Develop and maintain research guides and blogs and other public facing content
• In the absence of the Assistant Director, provide supervision for the Division, related operations, and serve as the contact for public service matters. 
• Ensure opening and closing procedures, and other policies related to space management are followed 
• Maintain a personal program of continuous education and professional development, actively engaging with professional organizations in the humanities, establishing expertise in trends in public service, outreach and instructional services. 
• Performs related duties as required
