Full-Time Children’s Librarian Position

The East Hampton Library, located on Long Island’s picturesque East End, is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Children’s Librarian. This is your chance to create a meaningful impact in the lives of children from birth through grade 8, their families, and the community at large.

Responsibilities:

-Plan, promote, and lead engaging programs tailored to children from birth through grade 8.

-Provide warm and knowledgeable reference and readers’ advisory services to children and their families.

-Build relationships with schools, parents, and community organizations.

-Develop and maintain an inclusive and diverse collection that reflects the interests and needs of children

in the community.

-Create opportunities for children to engage with the library creatively such as through art projects, etc.

-Foster digital literacy by assisting children and caregivers with print and electronic resources.

Qualifications:

-Flexibility, adaptability and a collaborative spirit.

-A genuine passion for working with children and delivering exceptional service.

-Prior experience working with children in a library, educational, or community setting.

-Proficiency in library-related technology and digital tools.

-Spanish language proficiency is a plus.

Requirements:

Candidate must have a MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited library school or enrollment in an ALA-accredited MLS program. There is also a tuition reimbursement option.

Hours:

35 hours per week including an evening and weekend rotation.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary: $62,000 with a benefit package including 3 Personal Days, 12 Sick Days, 21 Vacation Days,

12 paid Federal Holidays, 1 Floating Holiday, NYSHIP health insurance with 100% paid for individual coverage, Retirement plan with 10% annual contribution, 403B plan and a Flexible Spending Account.
