The Learning Commons of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for an Electronic Resources Librarian.

Job Duties:

The primary responsibilities of this staff librarian position may include:

  • Overseeing, acquiring, managing, and evaluating the electronic resources of the JCTC libraries.
  • Working with others throughout the library and Kentucky Community and Technological College System to manage issues related to electronic resource access.
  • Collaborating with partners internally and externally to ensure ongoing access to licensed resources.
  • Managing the Learning Commons website and LibGuides.
  • Working with the Director of Library Services to manage the Central Service Desk and employees in the Smith Library Building. Other duties include:
  • Participating in general library services: instruction, reference, desk coverage.
  • Participating in collection development and other Learning Commons activities.
  • Participating in the Learning Commons Instruction Team by creating instructional tools (e.g., LibGuides, videos, handouts) through traditional and emerging formats.
  • Possible occasional travel to extended campuses.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Library/Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years professional library experience.
  • Experience using Alma (Ex-Libris) integrated library system.
  • Experience working with vendors on pricing and licensing issues.
  • Experience working with a variety of colleagues: student workers, full-time staff and faculty, and part-time staff and faculty.
  • Experience with Springshare, Canva, and other content creation applications.
  • Experience with Blackboard or other learning management systems.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

Additional Skills Requested:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High level of familiarity with issues, tools and workflows related to e-resource management.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of organization skills. Physical Requirements: Occasional and /or light lifting - limited exposure to disagreeable environmental elements (heat, cold, dirt, chemicals, etc.)
