Responsibilities Digital Collection Management Working with Regional Collection Management, help manage and maintain the library system’s digital collections, including ebooks, e-audiobooks, e-magazines, streaming media, and online databases. Oversee the acquisition, cataloging, and activation of electronic resources within the PINES system, in coordination with Regional Collection Management. Evaluate and select new digital content in collaboration with library staff and based on community needs and interests across the region, contributing to the overall collection development strategy. Troubleshoot access issues and ensure ongoing accessibility of digital materials for all patrons, escalating complex technical problems to the Network Administrator as needed. Monitor usage patterns and generate reports on digital collection performance, sharing findings with Regional Collection Management. Digital Service Development & Promotion Research, recommend, and implement new digital services and technologies to enhance the user experience, consulting with the Network Administrator on infrastructure and compatibility. Develop and deliver engaging training programs and support materials for patrons on accessing and utilizing digital resources, with a focus on digital literacy skills. Promote digital services through various channels, including the library website, social media, outreach events, and partnerships with community organizations. Website & Social Media Management Maintain and update the library system’s website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and user-friendly, coordinating with the Network Administrator on technical updates and security. Create and curate engaging social media content to promote library services and digital resources across all branches. Monitor website and social media analytics to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Reference & User Support Provide expert reference and research assistance to patrons in person, via phone, email, and online chat. Assist patrons with accessing and navigating digital resources and technologies, including GALILEO and PINES, referring complex technical issues to the Network Administrator or designated IT support staff. Troubleshoot basic technical issues and provide technology support to patrons, escalating more complex problems to the appropriate personnel. Collaboration & Teamwork Work closely with the Network Administrator to ensure the smooth operation and integration of library systems and technologies across all branches. Collaborate with the Network Administrator and IT support staff to address technical issues, implement new technologies, and maintain network security. Work closely with librarians and staff at all branches to provide comprehensive and integrated library services. Participate in library committees and workgroups as assigned. Professional Development Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in digital librarianship, particularly in serving rural communities. Participate in professional development opportunities, conferences, and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
