DESCRIPTION

The Library Technology and Digital Experience (TDX) Program develops, implements, and supports sustainable, high quality technology services. The Information Technology Services Program provides technical systems and solutions in support of all UC San Diego Library Programs and their associated strategic imperatives. To facilitate communication and coordination, the Information Technology Service program aligns its service offerings with associated Library programs and provides technical and project management expertise as needed to support the objectives of those programs.

The Digital Product Strategist plays a critical role in implementing the Library's digital content strategy and supporting the growing use of the Library's digital collaboration and project management tools.

Incumbent has a sustained impact on the Library's strategic initiatives and overall operations by ensuring that project management and project-based content strategy are effectively implemented and supported across the Library. Incumbent leverages user-research and evidence-based practice to develop the Library's overall website content strategy and drive improvements in workflow efficiency, content quality, and user experience across the Library's digital spaces. Plans and leads technical projects of moderate scope specific to the Library's public websites, discovery system, and digital collections by managing project frameworks, processes and methodologies. Incumbent contributes to strategic initiatives and high-impact projects that measurably improve the structure, consistency, usability, accessibility, and quality of Library public websites and digital experiences for research, teaching, and learning.

The digital product strategist leverages both the technical skills required for managing Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Atlas) and the user-centered, evidence-based strategic insight needed for digital product development, including design systems (i.e. Figma), and project-based approaches to organizational content strategy development. Incumbent fosters and supports continuous improvement efforts and promotes effective digital collaboration (i.e. Slack) and project management, supporting Library and Digital Experience Team strategic initiatives from initiation through completion and organizing and leading activities relating to the management and completion of digital collaboration tools.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the development and implementation of a design system.
  • Proven experience in content strategy development and implementation.
  • Requires basic knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts. Working knowledge of agile and lean project management methodologies. Demonstrated ability to adapt and develop project and design processes for academic contexts.
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities. Ability to mentor, train, and collaborate closely with student employee design and content strategy assistants.
  • Requires effective communication and organization skills. Exceptional active listening skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate with patience and empathy. Demonstrated experience fostering designer-developer collaboration.SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.Professional certification preferred.
  • Figma training / certification preferred.
  • Atlassian training / certification preferred.
  • Must pass a background check.Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $77,000 - $139,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $36.88 - $66.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
