Circulation Services Manager

The Circulation Services Manager is an integral part of our leadership team, serving as the main point person for Circulation Services. This individual is responsible for setting the pace and direction for the department; regularly assessing the staffing model, workflow, and resources to ensure efficiency; establishing best practices for customer service; and ensuring departmental progress on the library’s robust strategic plan.

The Circulation Services Manager should be accustomed to working with staff and patrons from diverse backgrounds and committed to supporting the Downers Grove Public Library with its equity, diversity, and inclusion work.

We are looking for a successful candidate who will:

• Supervise, direct, and evaluate the plan of service, workflow, and personnel of the department;
• Set the vision and direction for the department to ensure alignment with strategic plan goals and objectives;
• Oversee and manage the materials handler operations, vendor contracts, and other circulation functions;
• Handle the business and financial affairs of the department; and
• Operate as a resource and advisor for the management team on emerging issues and trends concerning all Circulation functions of the library

Qualifications:

• Expertise typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Three years of relevant library and supervisory experience
• Advanced experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and other computer and maker software, tools, and programs
• Experience using ILS software preferred

This year-round, full-time position serves as the person in charge of the Circulation Services Department. Annual salary is between $68,223 and $76,756, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include vacation leave, personal leave, and sick leave; a generous insurance package; and enrollment in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension system.

The typical schedule for the Circulation Services Manager will be normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in combination with a regular evening and weekend rotation.
