Adult Services Librarian

Job Summary The Niles Public Library District is seeking a dedicated and professional Librarian to join our Adult Services Department. Under the supervision of the Adult Services Supervisor, you will provide exceptional library services, perform collection development, and deliver comprehensive reference and advisory services to our patrons.

Adult Services Librarian will...

• Provide uniformly gracious and friendly service to all internal and external customers while maintaining a patron-centered attitude
• Perform collection development responsibilities in assigned areas
• Deliver comprehensive Reference and Advisory services, including Readers', Listeners', and Viewers' Advisory
• Schedule and host adult programs in coordination with the Marketing Supervisor
• Market the collections and services of the Adult Services Department effectively
• May serve as Volunteer Coordinator, overseeing training and scheduling of library volunteers
• Participate in staff meetings, conferences, and educational opportunities
• May coordinate book and/or film discussions at the library and in community venues
• May assist in seeking out, writing, and implementing grants

Requirements:

• Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with the public and all levels of Library staff
• Strong organizational skills with ability to work with minimal supervision
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and transport/move up to 100 pounds occasionally
