Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking an Acquisitions Coordinator to join Geisel Library. Reporting to the Head of Collection Development, the Library Acquisitions Coordinator has primary responsibilities for facilitating the ordering, receipt and payment for all academic and collections content acquired by Geisel Library. This position coordinates all documentation associated with these purchases, works closely with our librarians and selected vendors, and carefully follows college finance procedures to ensure timely payment of invoices and accurate accounting. In addition to maintaining order records and creating reports, this position also assists with copy-cataloging of received materials, and helps the Head of Collection Development with collections-related projects, such as evaluating collections, processing donations and facilitating the Library's annual Book Sale.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Initiate orders with appropriate vendors for all print and electronic library acquisitions, according to established procedures, and troubleshoot questions.
  • Accurately use our Sierra ILS system to maintain acquisitions records, including creating and editing order records, managing invoices, updating funds, and creating reports.
  • Accurately receive all new material in Sierra, and assist with their copy-cataloging following cataloging policies and procedures.
  • Manage select orders using a college-issued purchasing card and create requisitions and expense reports in our financial management Workday system.
  • Coordinate activation of electronic book orders with the Electronic Resources librarian, and assist in the accurate setting of holdings information, in coordination with the Head of Cataloging & Metadata.
  • Support the College Archivist with the purchasing, ordering, and receiving of special collections titles.
  • Complete annual fiscal budget-closing operations in Sierra, including fund posting and creation of fund activity reports, along with acquisitions statistics.
  • Assist with the deaccessioning of physical items, and the processing and evaluating of donations, culminating in the annual Book Sale.
  • Contribute to the department's goals by completing special projects as needed.
  • Develop and foster good working relationships with vendors, sales representatives, Library selectors and other College staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize projects and workflows, with high daily productivity.
  • Proficiency with bibliographic and cataloging systems, such as OCLC WorldCat, Innovative Sierra, RDA Toolkit, and similar.
  • Experience and comfort with navigating complex software interfaces and relevant library marketplace websites.
  • Experience working with spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel, and with other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated competency using Library of Congress Classification and Subject Headings.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a collegial environment.

This is a full-time, twelve-month hourly staff position, working approximately 8:30a to 4:30p, Monday through Friday on site at Geisel Library.
