About This Role:

K-State Salina seeks an experienced public services librarian with a passion for providing excellent reference and access services to college students, faculty, and staff, and to support the mission of the library and the College of Aviation and Technology on the Salina campus.

Primary Job Responsibilities -
  • Provide leadership for access to library services, including use of spaces and computers, circulation of library resources, electronic and traditional reserves, print book shelf maintenance, interlibrary loan; hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluating students
  • Use high-level decision making skills concerning all front desk and circulation services and policies and in partnering with writing center, peer tutoring, career services, faculty initiatives, and IT staff
  • Provide reference services in multiple modalities to students, faculty, staff, and the public;
  • Share duties in research instruction, library skills workshops, and information literacy initiatives; use in-person, hybrid, and fully online instruction methods
  • Share in planning and conducting outreach events and communication about the library to multiple audiences
  • Collect and analyze data to facilitate short and long term planning for the library
  • Engage in professional development to stay ahead of library trends, issues and emerging technologies.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • MLS from an ALA-accredited program at an accredited institution of higher education.
  • At least 1-year full-time experience working in an academic library.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively and taking initiative in teams, customer service, and self-directed projects

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Library ILS (ExLibris Alma experience preferred) and related systems.
  • Relevant library supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and continued learning in technology use including Microsoft Office Applications, printers, video conferencing software, and instructional tools
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Experience in or interest in developing reference knowledge in fields relevant to K-State Salina curriculum, especially aviation, UAS, engineering, computer sciences, social work
  • Experience in providing research instruction in college writing classes
  • Experience working in a learning commons environment and maintaining innovative relationships with partners across the university
  • Experience in providing access and reference services to both campus-based and distance learners and meeting a wide range of student needs

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment

$48,000- $55,000, depending on qualifications
